Today’s Memphis City Tour

The exciting chore of doing laundry started our day today. But then Rick and Dennis got the trikes out and got everything up and running and the four of us were ready to head downtown to see what we could see. Rick keyed in the address on the GPS for a Starbucks Coffee so Myrna could get a mug for Malana. We had to drive through the seediest! looking area of Memphis but after a couple of miles we crossed the railway tracks and we got back into a better looking area and there was Starbucks.

Early afternoon the four of us had a tour bus pick us up at the Memphis/Graceland RV Park and took us on a Blue City 3 hour tour. We did Beale Street, Danny Thomas St. Jude Childrens Hospital, Millionaire Row, Peabody Hotel to see the ducks! Etc. and then our guide took us for a quick look at the Graceland area. While we were on Beale Street the girls got a little risque and started dancing on the bar,at the Ugly Coyote Bar, they will explain later. For dinner tonight we got out the BBQ and I (Rick) cooked steaks. I have been looking forward to cooking outside for along time. After dinner we walked up to the Rock & Roll café and had grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich, yes you read it right. Apparently it was one of Elvis’s favorite night time snacks. The girl who is part owner of the café, Melissa Coleman, is also the owner of Marlows BBQ restaurant that we are going to tomorrow. She is a very friendly and informative person, she pulled a stool over to our table and began to answer any questions that we had and also told us a lot about the history of the area. Tomorrow we plan to do the Graceland Platinum Tour. We are all really enjoying Memphis.
